How much does it cost?

This is one of the most frequently asked questions, but unfortunately, it’s also one of the most difficult to answer definitively. The cost of a construction project depends on a variety of factors, including the size and complexity of the site, the square footage of the build, the materials and finishes you select, and the location of the project. For instance, projects in urban areas may have different costs compared to more rural locations due to site preparation requirements, utility connections,  and local regulations. We can provide more accurate estimates once we have a better understanding of your specific needs and goals, and we are happy to discuss your budget at any stage of the planning process.

How long does it take?

Once we receive a finalized set of plans, the timeline for the building process typically ranges from 6 to 12 months, depending on the size and complexity of the project. Smaller, less intricate builds may fall toward the 6-month range, while larger or more customized projects may take longer, especially if there are any special design elements, high-end finishes, or permitting requirements involved. We prioritize quality and attention to detail, so while we aim to meet your expectations in a timely manner, we also ensure that no steps are rushed in the construction process.

When can you start?

The timeline for starting a project can vary depending on the size and scope of the work. For smaller projects or renovations, we may be able to start within 6 months of approval. Larger, more complex builds typically require scheduling 6 to 12 months in advance, as these projects often involve more detailed planning, specialized labor, and longer procurement times for materials. We recommend reaching out early to discuss your timeline and reserve a spot in our schedule. We will work with you to coordinate as closely as possible with your desired start date.

Where do you work?

While we are based in Tompkins County, we regularly take on projects within a 30-minute radius of Ithaca. This includes surrounding areas in upstate New York. If your project is located slightly beyond this radius, we are still happy to discuss the scope and feasibility, as travel or additional logistics may be factored into the planning process.

Do I need plans?

Yes, having finalized plans is essential to obtaining permits and ensuring your project meets all local building codes, especially in the Ithaca area. While many clients come to us with rough ideas or sketches, we find it helpful to begin the design process as early as possible. Depending on your budget and the level of customization you desire, we can recommend professionals to help with your plans. For larger, custom builds, we often work with architects who can create detailed, full-scale plans tailored to your needs. For smaller projects or more standardized designs, we can connect you with an engineer who can draft plans that comply with New York State building codes. Either way, we believe in being actively involved in the design phase to ensure the plans are feasible and meet your vision.
